Rain Sensor is not working

This message will display after the mower had attempted docking a few times unsuccessfully.

Step 1 – Go to Service ⇢ 897 ⇢ Information ⇢ Special Display ⇢ Rain Sensor

When dry, it should read 27 or so and when wet should drop significantly to 7 -10 range. Wet your finger and touch both tips of the rain sensor on the LCD panel. Does the display indicate a change in the rain sensor’s reading?

If Yes – Rain sensor is fine and may need to change its settings. Proceed to Step 2.

If No – Proceed to Step 3.

Step 2 – On mower service menu go to Rain Sensor screen (134) or Service ⇢ 897 ⇢ Information ⇢ Special Display ⇢ Rain Sensor. Upon entering Rain Sensor screen, the following information will be displayed on the mower’s LCD:

  1. Rain Sensor Reading
    Displays the actual sensor reading
  2. Rain Sensor Sensitivity
    Indicates the value in which below “rain” is detected. This value is adjustable through the Service menu.
  3. Sensor State
    0 = Rain is not detected
    1 = Rain is detected
  4. Sensor Enable/Disable
    0 = Rain sensor disabled
    1 = Rain sensor enabled
  5. Rain Detect During Auto Operation
    0 = Rain is not detected
    1 = Rain is detected

Make sure Rain Sensor is set to ON. Wet your finger and touch rain sensor’s metal prongs on LCD panel. If the number doesn’t change at all, Replace the LCD Panel corresponding to your mower’s model year. After replacing the panel, test it again to make sure rain sensor works.
