Step 1 – Turn the Safety/Main Switch to OFF, lift the front of the mower and check for any visible reasons creating noise with regards to the mowing system.
Possible Reasons:
- Debris stuck in the mowing deck
- Bent blade or bent mowing motor axle
- Too much mulched grass built up between mowing deck and blades
- Rotate blades to see if they’re bent or axle bent (using long stick or heavy gloves)
Step 2 – Press the bumper a few times from various directions. Is it noisy or creaking?
If Yes – Remove the cover and spray lubricant on the bumper springs.
If No – Proceed to Step 3.
Step 3 – Turn both drive wheels manually. Is one of them noisier than the other?
If Yes – Replace the Noisy Drive Motor.
If No – Proceed to Step 4.
Step 4 – Rotate the front wheel on its axle and against mower’s chassis. Does front wheel turn and rotate freely? (Do it with Front Wheel in its inner position and not extended position, as is when the mower is on the ground).
If Yes – Proceed to Step 5.
If No – Try to release the front wheel (debris, mulched grass accumulation, or mud that prevent the wheel’s free rotation). If front wheel rotation cannot be released, Replace the Front Wheel.
Step 5 – Place the mower inside the lawn and send it back to dock (Mowing motors are not working). Can loud noises be heard from the mower?
If Yes – Replace the Noisy Drive Motors one at a time until no loud noise is heard.
If No – Proceed to Step 6.
Step 6 – Send the mower to mow (Mowing motors are working). Can loud noises be heard from the mower?
If Yes – Remove LEFT blade (Do as instructed in the Operating and Safety manual), then send the mower to mow again. Proceed to Step 7.
If No – Let the mower complete the next few operations to understand if the problem was an isolated event or recurrent.
Step 7 – Was the loud noise reduced?
If Yes – Replace LEFT mowing blade and run the mower to observe if the noise is gone. If the noise is still being heard, Replace LEFT mowing motor.
If No – Put the LEFT blade back on the motor’s pinion and Remove the RIGHT blade (Do as instructed in the Operating and Safety manual), then send the mower to mow again. Proceed to Step 8.
Step 8 – Was the loud noise reduced?
If Yes – Replace RIGHT mowing blade and run the mower to observe if the noise is gone. If the noise still being heard, Replace RIGHT mowing motor.
If No – Consult with level 3 technical support.
